In this clip, they are performing a well-loved, Ray Charles classic:  What’d I Say

About the song:

What’d I Say

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not to be confused with What I’d Say or What I Say.

“What’d I Say”

Genre Soul, blues, rock and roll

Writer(s) Ray Charles

“What’d I Say” (or “What I Say”) is a song by American rhythm and blues (R&B) musician Ray Charles, released in 1959 as a single divided into two parts. It was improvised one evening late in 1958 when Charles, his orchestra, and backup singers had played their entire set list at a show and still had time left; the response from many audiences was so enthusiastic that Charles announced to his producer that he was going to record it.

After his run of R&B hits, this song finally broke Charles into mainstream pop music and itself sparked a new sub-genre of R&B titled soul, finally putting together all the elements that Charles had been creating since he recorded “I Got a Woman” in 1954. The gospel influences combined with the sexual innuendo in the song made it not only widely popular but very controversial to both white and black audiences. It earned Ray Charles his first gold record and has been one of the most influential songs in R&B and rock and roll history. For the rest of his career, Charles closed every concert with the song. It was added to the National Recording Registry in 2002 and ranked at number 10 in Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

Call Me Maybe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“Call Me Maybe”

Writer(s) Carly Rae Jepsen, Josh Ramsay, Tavish Crowe

“Call Me Maybe” is a song recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen for her EP Curiosity (2012) and appearing on her international debut album, Kiss. The song was written by Jepsen and Tavish Crowe as a folk song, but its genre was modified to pop following the production by Josh Ramsay. “Call Me Maybe” is an upbeat teen pop track that draws influences from dance-pop and disco. Lyrically, the track alludes to the inconvenience that a love at first sight brings to a girl who hopes for a call back from a crush.

This is a real, honest to goodness Band!  Our agency specializes in providing live music and entertainment to the New York Metropolitan area.  We simply refuse to work with Karaoke bands or sequenced bands.  Our feeling is that if you’re going to hire a Karaoke band, you might as well hire a DJ(hopefully one of ours, they’re on the air!)

Karaoke or sequenced bands have their music already pre-taped and pre-arranged before they even arrive at your event.  They can’t extend the length of a song when the dance floor is full.  If the tape ends, the song ends…on to the next song.  Anybody can be a musician in one of these bands, they don’t need to play an instrument; the sequencer is doing the real work. The only one doing any real work in one of these bands are the singers.
